The General Services Administration (GSA) was established by President Harry Truman on July 1, 1949, to help manage and support the basic functioning of federal agencies. GSA supplies products and communications for U.S. government offices, provides transportation and office space to federal employees, and develops government-wide cost-minimizing policies and other management tasks. GSA conducts its business activities through 11 offices (known as GSA Regions) throughout the United States. The regional offices are in: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Ft. Worth, Kansas City, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. The Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) provides comprehensive solutions for products and services across the government. GSA assists with procurement work for other government agencies. As part of this effort, it maintains the large GSA Schedules, which other agencies can use to buy goods and services. The GSA Schedule can be thought of as a collection of pre-negotiated contracts. Procurement managers from government agencies can view these agreements and make purchases from the GSA Schedule knowing that all legal obligations have been taken care of by GSA. This is when Yolanda Collins does her magic. GSA opens the doors to do business with the US Government and Certified Technical Experts is proud to be on Schedule 70.

Yolanda Collins, Contracting Officer, has been performing her role in helping contractors do business with the government for over 13 years. She started at Gunter Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama and is now working out of the Atlanta office. There is a lot of work that goes into applying for a GSA schedule.

Last year, the GSA Schedule 70 did over 14 billion dollars with businesses. She said; “If you use your schedule, the way it is meant to be used, it will open you up to thousands of potential contracts. It will change the dynamics of your company. It’s great for our economy and government.”
